Gra-Gra’s Goulash

Gra-Gra’s Goulash

Gra-Gra’s Goulash is a household favorite. Not only is it a super easy one pot meal, but it makes for the BEST leftovers. It is a recipe that I am told has been past down for generations. I received it in college when my husband and I were still dating. And like every person before me, I adapted it to become more my own.  Feel free to add your own twist too, I’d love to know how it turns out!

This goulash recipe is more of a mix between American goulash and hamburger helper. Both meals I had never tried until I made this recipe- Wow, was I missing out! It is the perfect combo of noodles, meat, gooey cheese, and a hint of tomato. At the time of gra-gra’s goulash recipe being passed down, my hubs and I were on a no red meat kick. Therefore, I subbed it out for turkey meat. To me, this is how Gra-Gra’s goulash is suppose to taste. But if you choose, sub in ground beef instead. Let’s get cooking shall we?

  3. Add chopped onion to pot. Continue to cook until onions are tender.

  4. Pour in pasta, sauce, and spices. Stir and let come to slight boil.

  5. Cover and cook on low for 25 mins or until the pasta has absorbed most of the sauce.

  6. Remove from heat & stir in cheese. Salt & pepper to taste.

We use 91% turkey meat. But any sort of ground meat will do- it was originally ground beef when the recipe was passed down to me.
